FEDERAL LEGISLATION REGULATING PHYSICIANS AND HEALTH-CARE PROVIDERS

FULTON'S COMMENTARY ON THIS STORY:

Federal laws are organized and published as United States Code.  US Code is divided into 50 categories called Titles.  Title 42 of US Code is devoted to what is termed Public Health.  The link below will take you to Title 42.

Title 42 is a mind-boggling maze of federal legislation regarding health care.  There are thousands of laws regulating and prohibiting all sorts of things which should neither be regulated nor prohibited.  Title 42 has grown each year and is the result of decades of statist legislation which has gradually wiped out most freedom in health care.

Title 42 isn't the only Title which contains legislation regulating health care, it is simply the most extensive Title full of dictates about health care.  The restrictions, mandates and prohibitions contained in Title 42 does not include the thousands of federal regulations issued by so-called independent federal agencies.  On top of all of the foregoing are the thousands of laws and regulations imposed on health care by state and local governments.

Browse through Title 42 for a frightening glimpse at how far down the road we have come to totalitarian rule in America.  The link below connects you to Chapter 6A of Title 42.  See Subchapter XI for HMO laws; this section codifies, among others, the HMO Act of 1973.  To view all of the chapters of Title 42, click the link at the top of the page in Chapter 6A.
