SHAYS-MEEHAN
FULTON'S COMMENTARY ON THIS STORY: |
One of the reasons statists are successful in advancing their cause of tyranny is the fact they are successful in hiding what they are really doing. Most of the media has only reported that the Shays-Meehan bill would ban so-called "express advocacy," without ever explaining the meaning of this phrase; hence, the lack of public understanding of what this bill is really all about.
In the case of Shays-Meehan, this bill is offered as an admendment to the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971. In order to understand the Shays-Meehan Act, you must be able to trace the tortuous connections to the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971. But take the spokesmen of Shays-Meehan at their word: this bill would ban, in the 60 days prior to a general election, "express advocacy" or, in the words of the bill: "express advocacy." See Title II, Section 201 for details.
The link below will take you to the text of the Shays-Meehan bill. This bill passed the House with the support of 51 Republicans who joined Democrats--all of whom seek to crush freedom.
